Ven. Khangser Rinpoche Gives Avalokitesvara wang and meditation – Friday, June 13, 2014
Ven. Khangser Tulku Rinpoche delivered an initiation of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva and also guided Avalokitesvara meditation in the Amoghapasa Gompa of Hiranyavarna Mahavihara on Friday, June 13, 2014. Rinpoche spoke in English and Mr. Milan Shakya translated in easy Nepal Bhasa. There were over 50 participants in the gompa. Rinpoche chose that date because that particular date was a birth anniversary of Lord Buddha according to Tibetan Calendar. The program was jointly organized by Nagarjuna Institute of Exact Methods and Himalayan Buddhist Heritage Foundation. Khangser Tulku Rinpoche is also one of the three Spiritual Directors of Nagarjuna Institute. Out of strong compassion for Newari people, he invariably gives Buddha’s teaching or empowerments in Hiranyavarna mahavihara while he himself belongs to a Newar family. In the program, first of all, Rinpoche explained the true meaning of empowerment and the prerequisites for obtaining the empowerment. He says, “One must have strong renunciation and Bodhicitta with great compassion to be able to receive any Vajrayana empowerment.” So he instructed all audience to meditate on Bodhicitta first. Later he guided the meditation on Generation and Completion Stage of Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara, including all the body, speech and mind aspects of his meditation.
