At the Nepal Buddhist Council's 27th Annual General Assembly, Nagarjuna Institute of Buddhist Studies Pvt. Ltd. (NIBS) received a prestigious felicitation certificate. I, as NIBS Director, proudly accepted this award from Lalitpur's Deputy Mayor Mrs. Manjali Shakya Bajracharya. Established by Rev. Mahishwor Raj Bajracharya, the Council founded Sugata Buddhist College, the sole college specializing in and dedicated to Newar Buddhism. NIBS, founded in 1980 AD by my late father, Rev. Min Bahadur Shakya, was recognized for its tireless efforts in preserving and promoting Mahayana Buddhism (Sutra and Tantra) in Nepal. Our work includes translating Buddhist texts, conducting classes, supporting Newar Vajrayana rituals, operating a charity program, running a publishing house, preserving and digitizing rare Sanskrit Buddhist manuscripts and texts, and maintaining a Buddhist library and so forth. Our primary goal is to integrate Tibetan and Newar Buddhism. This is the first such recognition for NIBS from the Nepal Buddhist Council in its 45-year history, and we are deeply grateful for this honor. We extend our best wishes to the Nepal Buddhist Council and Sugata Buddhist College for their continued success in preserving and disseminating authentic Mahayana Buddhism.
