Saturday, November 8, 2014. Very venerable Guru Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche out of compassion for the ten thousands of devotees and for the benefit of all sentient beings performed Sakyamuni Buddha puja. The main attraction of the program was the presence of the chief Gurujus from all the three traditions of Nepalese Buddhism, Theravada, Tibetan Mahayana Vajrayana and Newar Mahayana Vajrayana and represented by Ven. Jnanapurnika Mahasthavira, Ven. Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche and Rev. Buddha Ratna Bajracharya respectively. The program started with the verse of auspiciousness (Mangal gatha) by five Vajracaryas clad in Five Buddha robes. The welcome speech was delivered by Mr. Kiran Shakya, a representative from Lotus Research Center. Then Rinpoche imparted Five Precepts (Pancasila) to the devotees. Then Jnanapurnika Mahasthavira gave very exhilarating speech about the need to go forward from now on unifying all the traditions of Buddhism while giving up any sort of sectarianism. Then Rinpoche gave discourse on Three vehicle in a very simple and easy to understand manner. Mr. Tika Sherpa, a chief translator of Triratna Translation Committee, translated Rinpoche's teaching in a very excellent and easy to understand manner. Then Mr. Milan Shakya gave a short introduction to the empowerment on 1000 Buddhas. The main event. Rinpoche kindly gave empowerment (ka wang) to all the devotees in ten thousands of number and blessed them. The program was jointly organized by 17 Buddhist organizations and coordinated by Mr. Rajesh Shakya with an dynamic collaboration with Mr. Roshan Shakya who was the MC of the program who did the job very excellently. The 17 committed organizers were 1. Bauddha Vihara Sangha, Lalitpur, 2. Member Committee of Akseshwor Mahavihara, 3. Rudravarna Mahavihara Preservation Committee, 4. Sri Padmavarna Mahayana Vihara, Jyathabahal, 5. Saddharma Suraksa Sangha Gompa Hiranyavarna Mahavihara, 6. Buddhajayanti Trust, 7. Lotus Research Center, 8. Young Men Buddhist Association (YMBA), Nepal, 8. Vajracarya Ritual Training Center, Nyakhachowk, 9. Traditional Buddha Dharma Sangha, Nepal, 10. Nagarjuna Institute of Exact Methods , Chakupat, Kolchapokhari, 11. Himalayan Buddhist Education Foundation - HBEF, Chakupat, 12. Buddha Land Nepal, 13. Maya Foundation, 14. These 17 organizations are a united front which is committed to remain united and in solidarity for the spread of Buddhism. Lalitpur alone has many Buddhist Institutes but all of them remain isolated from each other. So this time, thanks also to the effort of Rajesh Shakya and others, this team has committed to unite and go ahead in solidarity. So in any Buddhist program, we will see these 17 organizations' unity. We have to remember a slogan. "United, we succeed. Splitted, we fail." Also, "Unity is a great strength". May it be auspicious.
